June News – Oak Ridge
This is our last official newsletter of the 2011-2012 school year. We would like to thank the parents and children for such a wonderful school year!!
May Recap
In May, Mr. Chris came to teach our children about Colypso Music and showed us how to use a steel drum! It was very upbeat and enjoyable as usual.
Parent Observations and Parent/Teacher conferences were a huge success and very informative too! Field Day was a huge success - the children enjoyed all of the activities and demonstrated good sportsmanship! A special thanks to all of the parents who donated their time and/or special treats.
June Events
6/6 Jamming for Juniors
6/18 End of Year Party - Carnival theme - All children are invited to attend (afternoon children come in the morning). Parent volunteers are needed - sign up sheet in classrooms. (rain date will be 6/19)
6/21 Last day of school
6/22 1:00pm Kindergarten Graduation (kindergarten students and their guests should show up at school at 12:30)
Jefferson Township Day Parade
Again this year, we will be marching in the Jefferson Township Day Parade. It will be held on Saturday July 14th at 11:00am. We need to be in place and meet near the gazebo by 10:15. All families are invited to participate. Please let your teachers know if you are able to march with us. Please wear your Alpine Montessori shirts (or any blue or green shirt).
Summer Camp
Begins on July 2nd (however, no camp on Independence Day 7/4) There is still space in our summer camp to continue the Montessori experience this summer. Enrollment can be done on a weekly basis - with very flexible schedules from 2 half days to 5 full days per week. There is also a discount for students that enroll for more than 4 weeks. Each week is a themed week planned with lots of crafts, cooking projects and outdoor activities cooresponding to each theme. Examples of these themes are Disney, Circus, Moon/Space/Stars, Sports/Olympics and transportation. Please consider this as a fun option for your child this summer. See your teacher for additional information about summer camp.
Outdoor Playspace Update:
The new sunshade and sandbox are in the process of being installed. These should be completed in the next couple of days.
Fall Registration:
Registration for the 2012-2013 school year is in full swing. Classes are filling fast. Please spread the word to families and friends about the great experience that you have had at Alpine. Spaces are limited.
Reminders:
Please send a labeled sunblock to school with your child. Sandals and flip-flops are not allowed on the playground. Please have your child wear sneakers to school. We are still collecting beverage tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Thank you!
