March News – Oak Ridge
February Recap
In February Mr. Chris came in to teach our children about funky music and the drums. The cool beat from the funky music was a great way to start the morning and made everyone feel like moving. Each kid had a chance to take a turn trying out Mr. Chris's drum kit - FUN. Every Wed when we didn't have Mr. Chris we have Miss Chris the Jefferson Township Librarian. She reads to our kindergarteners books that are either seasonal or having to do with themes we are working on in class.
We also celebrated Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day and President's Day by doing colorings, handwritings and reading books about the holidays to the children. We also celebrated Mardi Gras by making Mardi Gras masks and having a parade on the playground while playing special instruments. Picture day was a huge success and we saw beautiful smiles all day long!!
Thank you to all who participated in the Gertrude Hawk chocolate fundraiser. Stay tuned for improvements that we will be making to our outside playground space this spring.
March Events
3/2 Dr. Seuss's Birthday - we will be making a special Dr. Seuss craft, reading his stories and having birthday cake in each class to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday
3/14 Jamming for Juniors - "jazz music"
3/16 St. Patty's Day - we will be celebrating by making Irish Soda Bread with the children. Don't forget to wear your GREEN today. We never know if Shamus the Leprechaun will give us a surprise visit!!
3/20 Welcome in Spring - we will welcome in spring as our new season - with hopefully lots of outdoor time and by starting our new planting project.
3/28 Jamming for Juniors - "how the synthesizer works"
Open House:
This year Alpine will be holding an open house on Saturday March 24th from 10am-12pm to introduce our school to anyone that is thinking about summer camp or school for their child. Please spread the word if you have any friends or neighbors that may have a child that could benifit from our amazing program and school!!
Summer Camp and Fall Registration:
Registration materials are being sent out for summer camp and the 2012-2013 school year. Please review the materials and return them as soon as possible to secure your child's place in their classroom.
Reminders:
Please call school or check the web site's home page for any school closings due to inclement weather. We are still collecting beverage tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Don't forget to change your clocks on March 11th as we "spring ahead".
