September Recap
The children enjoyed pancakes, grapes and juice in recognition of National Breakfast Month. On September 26th we made applesauce from all the apples that the children brought in. It was delicious!!
Miss Chris, the Jefferson librarian started coming again to Alpine. She reads twice a month to the kindergarteners. She is having a competition between the other kindergarten classes that she reads to in town. When you visit the library you have to tell the librarian at the desk what school you are from. The kindergarten class with the most library visits will win an ice cream party and backpacks.
October Events
10/1 Visit from Jefferson Fire Department - the Jefferson Fire Department will be coming to our school to discuss fire safety and give the children a chance to climb aboard the fire truck. If your child doesn't normally attend school on Monday morning you are welcome to bring your child in and stay with them.
10/4 - 10/8 Grandparent's Visit - see below
10/15 Back to School Night 7:00pm - Parents come to back to school night and
meet your child's teacher, the head of school, see your child's classroom and learn
what goes on in the classroom all day. Please leave children home as this is an event
just for adults.

10/31 Halloween Celebration
Boo-or-Treat
Again this year we will be having our annual costume parade starting at 9:30 - followed by the Boo-or-Treat! Parent volunteers are needed for our Halloween festivities. Anyone wanting to make goody bags and pass them out to children from a decorated box please see your teacher to volunteer.
Reading Contest
This year to help reinforce the importance of reading, we are having a contest between the three classrooms. Each class will keep track of the books that they read by building a caterpillar around their classroom walls. If you choose to send in a book for us to read, please write your child's name on the inside cover. We want to make sure that all books are returned to their owner.
Kidstuff Books
Thank you to all that participated in our kidstuff fall fundraiser. It was a huge success and all proceeds will go towards purchasing Mac computers for the school.
Grandparent's Day
Grandparents are invited to come in and visit their grandchild in class and have a special snack with them. Sign up sheets are on your classroom door. Visitation slots will be available on October 4th, 5th and 8th.
