Welcome back for the 2012-2013 school year!!
Summer Recap
Hope that everyone had a great summer. Summer camp was a lot of fun for the children that attended. Highlights were building our own Thomas the Tank Engine, soaring into outerspace and having our very own summer Olympics. The opening of our sandbox was very exciting. All of the children couldn't wait to get outside and into the sand.
We are very excited for our upcoming school year at Alpine. The 1st few weeks we will enjoy getting to know eachother and welcoming old friends back to school.
September Events
9/20 Children's breakfast - the teachers will be making breakfast of pancakes, fruit and juice in awareness of National Breakfast month
9/26 Johnny Appleseed's birthday - everyone is asked to bring in an apple the week of 9/19-9/26. We will celebrate on Johnny Appleseed's birthday by making applesauce in class with all of the children's apples.
Alpine T-shirts and car magnets
Each registered child is receiving an Alpine t-shirt this year. If you have not yet received one for your child please let your child's teacher know your size and color preference. Also we have new Alpine Montessori logo car magnets. If you would like one for your car please pick one up at no charge from your child's teacher.
Reading Contest
This year to help reinforce the importance of reading, we are having a contest between the three classrooms. Each class will keep track of the books that they read by building a caterpillar around their classroom walls. If you choose to send in a book for us to read, please write your child's name on the inside cover. We want to make sure that all books are returned to their owner.
Kidstuff Books
Our annual fall fundraiser this year will once again be the KidStuff coupon books. These are a great way to save money at many of our favorite stores, restaruants and attractions. The cost is $25 for each book. Books will be handed out the first week of school. If you would like to keep it please return a check for $25 - if you do not want it simply return the book to school. Additional books are available for you to keep or sell to family and friends. If you sell/buy 5 books you get a 6th book for free. Alpine will keep 50% of the profits from selling these great books. All profits from the fall fundraiser will go towards purchasing new Apple computers for the school.
Grandparent's Day
Please mark your calendars that we will be offering an opportunity for Grandparents to come in and visit their grandchild in class and have a special snack with them. Sign up sheets will be available in late September. Visitation slots will be available on October 4th, 5th and 8th.
Reminders:
Please make sure that your child's coat bag has a complete change of clothes. It is very upsetting for the children if they don't have their own clothes to change into, if necessary.
All paperwork must be returned to Mrs. Dugan by Friday 9/14/12.
